Female Infertility (FI) Treatment - Hormonal Imbalance

A hormonal imbalance can cause female infertility.

  • FSH: High levels of follicle-stimulating hormone (FSH) could reduce the likelihood of getting pregnant.

  • Estradiol: Abnormal levels of estradiol, an important form of estrogen, decreases the probability of in vitro fertilization (IVF) success.

  • LH: Insufficient levels of luteinizing hormone (LH), which stimulates the ovaries to release an egg and start producing progesterone, can also be a cause of fertility problems.

  • Progesterone: The second half of the cycle is called the luteal phase and is from the day of ovulation until the next period begins. During the luteal phase, the body produces more progesterone. Normal levels of progesterone, which prepares the uterus for a fertilized egg’s arrival, must be present in order for a woman to get pregnant. The luteal phase is important in the reproductive cycle. The luteal phase has a more precise timeline and usually is only 12-16 days from the day of ovulation. Some women may have a short luteal phase, also known as a luteal phase defect (LPD). As a result, it gets more difficult to become pregnant. Any woman can develop a luteal phase defect when progesterone production drops due to a variety of reasons.

If you are suffering with hormonal issues, and you are struggling with infertility, acupuncture and herbal medicine can help restore your endocrine system to proper, balanced functioning. However, as with any treatment for a disease or disorder of the body, make sure to talk to your doctor first.

Male Infertility (MI) Treatment

Infertility affects an estimated 15% of couples, globally.  50% of all cases of infertility are due to female factors; 20-30% are due to a combination of female and male factors; and the remaining 20-30% are due male factors ALONE. In many cases, male fertility problems are due to low sperm production (count), misshapen sperm (morphology), immobile sperm (motility), or blockages that prevent the delivery of sperm. Males can produce sperm every day, but a full sperm regeneration cycle (spermatogenesis) takes about 64 days. The fact is that lifestyle changes can affect sperm cell DNA. Treatment plans may take up to 3 months to create new, good quality sperm. Through acupuncture treatments and lifestyle changes, you can improve semen quality and chances of pregnancy success. Our goal is to improve both male and female parameters to help you create a healthy baby. Treating both men and women is key.
